*Please note, these rules are to behave more like guidelines, and are greatly encouraged, but may be bent at GM discretion if the current time calls for it.
Basic Info
All bosses have a current and maximum HP, displayed as Current/Maximum. The fight ends when the boss's HP reaches 0, or if the timelimit has been met, if one has been set.
Up to 20 players may participate in a boss fight!
Once you've joined, your Stats, Skills, and Equipment from your INITIAL ATTACKING POST will be used. This equipment will be listed with your character information on the main boss post. This is to prevent players from purchasing better equipment or switching out skills in the middle of a boss fight.
Damaging a Boss
In order to damage a boss, members must post that they are "attacking" the boss. In boss fights, Skills may be used in addition to standard Attacking calculations (only one skill per attack post). Some bosses take less damage or are completely immune to certain skill or damage types, while others may be weak to certain types!
The same member may NOT double-post attacking posts! Players may post once per round, unless the GM permits more than one attack per player per round.
Calculating Damage
After a player has chosen to attack, a staff member takes the Player's Attack Stat and places it over the Boss's Defense stat. IE, if a boss has 10 defense, and a player has 5 attack, the number is 5/10. That means the player has a 1 in 2 chance of hitting, or 34%. A random number generator is then used to determine whether or not the player hit or missed. (in this case, virtual dice would be used.) Some skills may modify these numbers.
If a player hits, then the boss loses HP equivalent to the player's Attack stat plus any modifications from any Skills used.
In this case, if the player hits and uses no skills (or has no damaging skills), the boss loses 5 HP.
Boss Retaliation
After every 5 turns (ie after 5 people have posted attacking posts) a boss will retaliate.
When a boss retaliates, a random number generator will be used to choose which player will be hit. Players are listed on the boss post with a number beside them in order of when they first attacked the boss.
After a target is chosen, the Boss's damage is calculated the same way as player damage. The Boss's Attack stat is taken over the Player's Defense stat. If the Boss has 10 Attack and the player has 5 Defense, the resulting number is 10/5, or 2 to 1. This means the boss has a 67% chance of hitting you.
If a boss hits you, their damage is equal to their Attack stat. Bosses may use skills, but at lower tiers they do not use them as often.
Taking Damage
Player HP is calculated by player level. At level 1, HP is 60, and increases by 20 for every level thereafter. Current and Max HP of players is displayed on the main post next to the Player's name.
If a player is hit, the damage dealt by the boss is dealt to the player's current hp.
If Player HP hits 0
If a Player gets knocked out by a boss, you're out of the fight! Players who have had HP reduced to zero may not post any more actions for the duration of the boss fight.
*The only exception is if the player has a bottled fairy. A bottled fairy will automatically resurrect any player whose HP has reached zero, and then will disappear from their inventory, leaving behind an Empty Bottle. A player may choose whether or not they want the fairy to trigger, or if they want to back out of the fight and keep the fairy for later use. In canon dungeons, however, a fairy must be consumed, unless the player desires permadeath of their character.
Healing a Player
If a player chooses to use a healing item, they may, but they must post that they are healing as if they were posting an attack phase. A player may not post an attack phase and then immediately post a healing phase; they must wait for their next turn opportunity! Using a healing item also uses up a full action round, so players may NOT attack after healing, and must wait for their turn opportunity to come around a second time.
Defeating a Boss
If a Boss's HP reaches zero, you've won! All players who participated in combat will receive a reward. Certain players who have contributed more activity (see Boss / Miniboss Participation) may receive a larger rupee and/or level reward. If a player participated but was knocked out, they will still receive rewards, but at a greatly reduced amount, depending on how long they were in combat before being knocked out. Typically these players will receive a small amount of rupees but reduced exp and rewards. Sometimes items can be looted from bosses as well! Please be patient while Staff members distribute rewards!
Running out of Time
What happens if the time limit passes and the boss has not been knocked out? If this happens, the game is treated as though all players were knocked out. Players will still receive rewards, but they will be greatly reduced depending on how long a player was in combat/how much they contributed to the fight.

Questions or Concerns:
Q: What happens if a Staff member falls behind on posts, and when calculating damage, the boss knocks out a player who has posted an attack phase before knowing they had been knocked out?
A:If this happens, unfortunately that player's post will be disregarded. The player has been knocked out, and Staff members taking some time to do the damage calculations doesn't change that fact. ): The next attacking post will be calculated instead, and the game will continue as normal.
Q: What happens if a player levels up doing another activity while the Boss Fight is in progress?
A: If another person levels outside of the fight while the fight is in progress, they may not use any new stats, skills, or equipment in this fight. The rules that apply to the Player Equipment Lock apply here! In order to avoid potential issues, a Player's stats, equipment, and skills will be posted alongside their names in the main boss post.
