Welcome, scholars! Please view our selection of skills below. If you'd like to train in one of these skills, post below in order to pay their rupee cost.
Only skills between levels 1-19 are available here. Starting at level 20, you must choose a Scholar Subclass.
Starting Skill; Debuff:
Outwit: The Scholar outsmarts a target enemy, reducing the enemy's accuracy on its next turn by 10% + 25% of the Scholar's Competency. This skill does not need to pass an accuracy check. 4 round cooldown.
Special Grid Rules:
The target enemy must be within line-of-sight.
Tier 1: Levels 1-4
Skill; Buff:
Planned Attack: A Scholar makes a plan with a target ally, increasing both the ally's and the Scholar's accuracy by 10% + 10% of the Scholar's Comp stat, rounded up, on their next turn. The Scholar may also make an attack during the turn they use this skill. 4 round cooldown. This skill cannot be used for Team Attacks, and only affects the first hit of multi-hit moves.
Special Grid Rules:
The target ally must be within line-of-sight.
Rupee Cost: 100
Skill; Buff:
Skill Focus: The next skill used by the Scholar will have its effectiveness increased by 50%, rounded up. (Ie, the Accuracy component of a skill that gives 20% accuracy will be increased to 30%, the damage component of a skill that deals 5 damage will deal 8 damage, etc) Does not effect passive skills (such as Research Weakness) or stances (such as Battle Tactics).
Rupee Cost: 100
Tier 1.5: Levels 5-9
Skill; Debuff:
Diplomacy: The Scholar may perform a Competency Check with a +10% bonus chance of success to charm a target for 2 rounds. If the charm is successful, the Scholar may choose to reactivate this skill and perform another Competency Check (without the 10% bonus). If the second check is successful, the target is persuaded instead, effectively Hypnotizing them into fighting for his/her team for 2 of its turns. 6 round cooldown. If the target is successfully hypnotized, the cooldown timer resets, becoming a 6 round cooldown after the Hypnotize ends.
Special Grid Rules:
The target enemy must be within line-of-sight.
Rupee Cost: 150
Skill; Passive:
Research Weakness: Scholars gain a passive 10% bonus critical chance against any target type they have studied. A player may choose one category free with the purchase of this skill, but any subsequent categories must be purchased separately at 50 rupees a piece. This skill does not need to be active to gain its benefits. The categories are as follows:
Humanoids
Undead
Mammals (includes Wolfos, rats, Pol's Voice, etc)
Goblins (includes Moblins, Bokoblin, Miniblin, Bulbin, and Big Blin)
Winged (includes all Keese subtypes, birds, Patra, Chasupa, etc)
Marine/Amphibians
Elementals
Constructs (includes Beamos, Armos, Statues, etc)
Abomination (Includes Popo, Hokkubokku, and other organic creatures that don't fit another category)
Insects/Arachnids (Also includes mollusks, such as slugs)
Plants (includes Deku Baba, Deku Scrubs, etc)
Gelatinous (includes all Chuchus, Slimes, Bits, Like Likes, etc)
Demons
Dragons
Reptiles (includes Lizalfos, Dodongos, etc)
Twilit (Includes all Twilit creatures. Without this, Twilit creatures are not affected by the crit bonus even if they appear to qualify for a different category, such as Shadow Kargaroks are not affected from the Avian category, but are affected by the Twilit category)
Arcane (only includes beings of pure magic, or creatures such as Wizzrobe, not a creature that better qualifies for a different category but happens to be magical)
In addition, the Scholar gains a bonus for completion. After researching all creatures, the Scholar gains an additional +0.1x crit bonus.
Rupee Cost: 150
Tier 2: Levels 10-14
Skill; Passive; Beneficial:
Rationalize: Scholars are known for keeping their wits about them, causing Mental CCs to only apply half as often against a Scholar passively.
In addition, a Scholar may attempt to reason with any ally affected by a Mental CC, clearing all Mental CCs applied to their target instantly. They may also attempt to reason with themselves to clear Mental CCs in this way, provided they are able to take an action (they may not self-clear Mesmerize or Sleep). 5 round cooldown.
Special Grid Rules:
The target ally must be within line-of-sight.
Rupee Cost: 200
Skill; Sound; Debuff:
Linguistic Specialist: A Scholar is a master of languages, able to learn, speak, and write in a variety of them. If a Scholar is a master of a language, when in combat with an enemy that would speak that language, the Scholar may activate this skill to either Distract, Enrage, or Charm for 1 round, or Confuse the enemy. The form of CC may be chosen at will, and does not need to pass accuracy, provided that the target is able to hear the Scholar speak. 6 round cooldown.
In roleplay, these languages may be used to communicate in the manner of the player's choosing with anyone that would speak the languages known by the Scholar. A player may choose one free Language with the purchase of this skill. All subsequent languages cost 50 rupees each to learn. This skill does not need to pass an accuracy check, but may only be used once every 6 rounds when in combat.
The language knowledge may be used in roleplay even if this skill is Inactive, but the skill must be an active skill to be used in combat.
The available languages are as follows (it is assumed that everyone speaks modern Hylian, which will be treated as a Common language, and as such will not be listed. Even if your chosen race should know your native tongue, for the purpose of the skill, players only know "common" naturally. This does not necessarily apply to roleplay, if your character has a valid reason to know a certain language already, such as if it is a native racial tongue. Note, most of these are not canon languages, but many are perceived or based on canon.)

Gerudo
Ancient Hylian (Valoo speaks this; not Draconic)

Rupee Cost: 200
Tier 2.5: Levels 15-19

Rupee Cost: 250
Skill; Buff:
Battle Tactics: A Scholar may choose a Tactic for a battle, and gains bonuses and penalties according to the tactic chosen. In addition, Tactics grant an Aura effect that grants boosts to allies. Tactics may be switched mid-combat, but a Scholar must wait 4 rounds before switching tactics. A Tactic may be called off entirely, leaving the Scholar with basic stats. Tactics last until they are cancelled or switched, or the battle ends.
Offensive Tactic: The Scholar's Damage is increased by 15%, rounded up. In return, his/her Defense is reduced by 20% and he/she takes 10% bonus damage from all sources, rounded up.
