SCHOLAR UPDATES
After careful consideration, Scholar (and its subclasses) have received a bit of a rework. In total, 1 base Scholar skill has been affected, as well as 2 Tactician skills. Diplomat has gained 2 skills, and Researcher 1.
The purpose of this rework was to help ensure that Scholar kept a consistent, more support-focused niche, rearranging some selfish buffs while focusing on providing a broader variety of buffs for allies. In addition, the Scholar's original Competent buff was removed from base Scholar and reworked for its subclasses in order to not give a base class an unfair advantage in one of the three Core stats (Guardian notwithstanding, since its Defensive buffs are better balanced for its specific role).
Without further ado, here are the changes to Scholar!
Scholar:
-Competent has been completely removed. Instead, Scholars may now pick up the Rationalize skill:
Rationalize: Scholars are known for keeping their wits about them, causing Mental CCs to only apply half as often against a Scholar passively.
In addition, a Scholar may attempt to reason with any ally affected by a Mental CC, clearing all Mental CCs applied to their target instantly. They may also attempt to reason with themselves to clear Mental CCs in this way, provided they are able to take an action (they may not self-clear Mesmerize or Sleep). 5 round cooldown.
Tactician:
Removals:
-Cunning Persuasion has been removed from Tactician and is now a Diplomat skill.
-Learn From Mistakes has been removed entirely, as the updated Feat, Underestimated, now fills its role.
Additions:
Two new Skills have been added to Tactician to replace the two it lost:
-Volte-face: The Tactician is adept at turning the tides of battle in his/her group's favor, inverting all non-damaging negative effects on a single target into an equal positive effect. For example, if a target's Defense is reduced by 20%, they instead are granted +20% Defense. This applies to negative effects from all forms of Soft CC (but not Hard CC) and Status Conditions; for example, if a target is Dazed, this skill grants them +35% damage and +20% accuracy. This applies if the negative effects were self-inflicted as well. The duration of the buff is equal to the remaining duration of the negative effect.
4 round cooldown after the longest effect expires.
-Stratagem: The Tactician gains +10% Competency passively. A Tactician may activate this skill to provide its passive benefit to all allies, in addition to granting all allies a chance equal to 25% of the Tactician's Competency score +10% to automatically make an extra modified basic attack on their turn for 2 Rounds. 6 round cooldown after the effect expires.
Diplomat:
-Cunning Persuasion has been reworked for Diplomat, granting the following bonuses:
-Cunning Persuasion: The Diplomat may perform a Competency Check to convince a target to attack a target of his/her choosing, including another enemy, for one attack. This consumes the target's turn, preventing from attacking on their usual turn. While affected by Cunning Persuasion, the enemy is Silenced, preventing them from using anything but a standard attack against the target.
If there is only one target, the Diplomat may instead perform a Competency Check to convince the target to be a little bit... kinder, reducing the damage the target deals by 50%, Silencing them, and preventing them from critting on their next action. The Diplomat may choose to debuff a target in this way instead of having it attack another target if they prefer, even if there is more than one enemy present.
5 round cooldown.
New Skill:
-Savoir-Faire: The Diplomat gains +10% Competency passively. In addition, a Diplomat may activate this skill to provide its passive benefit to all allies, in addition to boosting all allies’ (including the Diplomat) healing efficacy and Defensive trigger chance (for stats like evasion, block, resistance, etc) by 25% of the Diplomat’s Comp score and prevents critical failure for 2 rounds. 5 round cooldown after the effect expires.
Researcher:
New Skill:
Astuteness: The Researcher gains +10% Competency passively. In addition, a Researcher may activate this skill to provide its passive benefit to all allies, in addition to granting all allies (including the Researcher) +1 round duration to all currently active beneficial buffs, reducing the cooldown by 1 on all allied skills currently on cooldown, and granting a bonus equal to +25% of the Researcher’s Competency to all allies’ next Skill Checks (including detect, stealth, etc). 6 round cooldown.
That's all for now! Hopefully this will better balance Scholar and its subclasses as a whole, and help each subclass find its own, more unique niche!
