Tradeskill Basics
Q. What is tradeskilling?
A. Tradeskilling is a system that allows players to craft items using gathered materials which they can then use themselves, hang on to, trade to, or sell to other players.
Q. What kind of items can I make while tradeskilling?
A. The item types depend on your chosen Tradeskill class (Spagyrists make Elixirs and Poisons, Jewelers make Necklaces and Earrings, Animal Trainers make Familiar Training Manuals and Familiar Treats, Provisioners make Rations and Drinks, Munitioners make Bombs and Magic Powder, and Artificers make Scepters and Instruments).
Each item is customizable based on what materials are used to craft them. For example, if one uses a Ruby in crafting a necklace, it gains the Fire trait, which has a different output depending on the type of base metal used in the crafting process. Per example, Gold grants an output modifier, and Monster Claws grant crit chance. If creating a Necklace using Gold, a Ruby, and a Monster Claw, the necklace will grant outgoing fire damage and critical chance. If using Silver instead of Gold, the outgoing fire damage is instead changed into incoming fire resistance, as Silver grants a resistance modifier.
Q. How can I make better items?
A. Better items become easier to create as you level up your Tradeskill class. (WIP)
Q. How do tradeskilled items compare to shop-purchased items or looted items?
A. Tradeskilled items are unique in that their stats are customizable based on what mix of materials you choose to use in your crafting process. Because of this, all crafted items will end up being unique, often side-grades (if not upgrades) to things that are purchasable, and are almost always side-grades to looted items, offering a different mix of stats and components.
Typically numerical values for tradeskilled objects will be lesser than boss-looted objects, but because of the flexibility in stat component arrangement, it's likely that players will still find preference in using their own crafted gear even if they loot a boss-tier piece of equipment that falls in a craftable slot.

Choosing a Tradeskill
Q. How do I decide on what tradeskill I want to specialize in?
A. That's up to what you feel like crafting! Whether you choose something that's appropriate for your character's personality or just something you think would be useful for your team, it's up to you.
Q. How do I lock in my tradeskill?
A. Post in the Training thread for your chosen tradeskill class and you'll be automatically set at level 1 for that tradeskill.
Q. Can I change my tradeskill class in the future?
A. You may change classes at any time, but changing classes will reset you back to level 1. You will be reset back to level 1 even if you change from a tradeskill you mastered to a new tradeskill and then back to the mastered tradeskill. *This is at GM discretion, but this is the general rule.
Q. How do I level up my chosen tradeskill class?
A. By crafting items, of course! (Formula WIP) Max level for all tradeskills is 10.

Materials & Crafting an Item
Q. How do I craft an item?
A. You may craft an item by combining your ingredients of choice in a post in your chosen Tradeskill training thread. A GM will inform you of your success or failure, as well as what your final item is, stats and all.
You may only use a maximum of 3 components per item crafted. The specific component types are based on your chosen class.
Q. What is a success rate?
A. WIP
Q. What happens if I fail at crafting my item?
A. WIP
Q. What types of items can I use for crafting?
A. Any material-category item! There are ~100 available, so there's plenty to be on the lookout for! You can also try experimenting with non-materials... Who knows what'll happen?
Q. Where do I gather materials for crafting?
A. Materials can be gathered at Forager's Farm, Agitha's Bug Hunt, and the Fishing Hole, as well as earned through the complete success in any mini-game. Some mini-games offer materials as rewards for partial completion as well, such as Thrill Digger.
Materials also drop regularly in dungeons, and have a chance to drop in boss fights and miniboss fights. Beedle's has a small pool of materials available for direct purchase as well.
You can also trade with fellow players, or check the Trading Post for any materials a fellow player may have put up for sale.
Q. Can I use custom materials, or go outside of recipes?
A. You're free to experiment outside of set recipes to your heart's content, but success cannot be guaranteed in these experiments! Custom materials are on a player-by-player basis and up to GM discretion, but they are by no means out of the question. Player-unique creations are encouraged (within the confines of their chosen tradeskill's allotted theme and slots; Spagyrists cannot suddenly decide to make Scepters, etc), and custom experiments are a part of that!

Player Shops
Q. What is a player shop?
A. A player shop is exactly what it sounds like - a shop run by the player. These shops are player-designed and run, with GMs handling transactions.
Q. Can I sell anything in my shop?
A. You're free to sell anything you own in the shop, regardless of whether or not it is something that you have crafted.
Q. Can I price my items however I want?
A. Sure! No guarantee that anyone will buy a basic potion for 1,000 rupees, but, you do you!
Q. What if no one is buying?
A. If no one is buying, you're free to take the item down, reprice, or make any other modifications you think would make the item more enticing for buyers.
If you have any further questions, please feel free to ask them here!
