PvPs should be fun for everyone, even when the odds seem to be stacked against you. In the interest of making PvP's more... well, rewarding, I've developed a new reward system.
Duels
As with before, Duels will net you Force Gems - a PvP specific currency that can be used in the Battle shop. Winning a duel will grant you 3 force gems, and losing will still earn you 1. But, a close loss will earn you 2! Always try your best!
You will also earn a monetary participation reward: 50 rupees per round. Considering that some duels can go on for upwards of 20 rounds, this can earn you a lot of cash!

Team Matches
Team matches don't have quite the level playing field that duels do, and as such they cannot earn you Force Gems.
Team matches maintain the same monetary reward, however: 50 rupees per round. You'll only earn rupees up until the round you are knocked out, though, so do everything you can to keep yourself in the game!
Since team matches won't win you any Force Gems, instead you can win rare treasures!

Free Matches
Free matches involve unmatched teams and handicaps, so sometimes someone ends up with a very, very short straw. Participants on a team with smaller numbers, lower levels, or another handicap will earn an underdog award - a treasure whose rarity depends on just how steeply the scales are tilted against them.
Since these matches are for for fun, the monetary reward is decreased to 25 per round.

Bets
Participants in any kind of PvP match can choose whether bets are allowed or not - they are not a mandatory part of the match, but they can make your victory so much sweeter!
Non-participants can place a bet (provided they have the rupees to do so). If the player or team they bet on loses, they lose those rupees. However, if that team wins, they not only get those rupees back, but also an additional amount determined by the odds of the match. Duels, as level 1v1 matches, have a 1:1 bet to additional winnings ratio. However, if someone were to bet on a 2v1 match for the 2 player team, their bonus would be 2:1 - since that team has twice as many fighters. On the contrary, if they were to bet on the 1 player team, they would get a reward ratio of 1:2 - meaning additional earnings of 200% if their team wins!
(There will be odds bonuses associated with considerable differences in level, but the formula for that is a work in progress.)
Winners of a match with bets also win the amount of rupees bet and winnings split evenly between the team. So bet on your friends! Even if the odds are against them, if they pull through you could both be rolling in riches!
Typically, bets by non participants are open until the 5th round of combat.
Participants may bet money or items to be placed into a pool which is given to the winner. Rupee only bets must be matched by the opponent, but items can be used to 'boost' the value of your bet if your opponent allows item bets. Both players must be okay with the bet for it to count! It's not really fair for someone to bet 1000 rupees while their opponent is only betting 10 rupees and a red potion (worth 130 including the bottle), unless they really, really want that potion!
Participant bets must be decided before the battle commences to count.
(Maximum bets can be enforced if staff feel it is necessary. Staff may also veto particularly unbalanced participant bets.)
Making the killing blow will net a player a bonus of 200 rupees per player character and 50 rupees per familiar or minion.
Happy fighting!

KO Bonuses

EXP
PvP opponents count as strong enemies of their base, unscaled level for EXP counts. If the fight is significantly unbalanced (as determined by the Game Master) EXP level may be determined by the losing team's level(s) instead (so you can't just fight someone 20 levels above you to grind!). Losers also gain 50% of this EXP for partaking!
In team matches EXP is earned by the team as a whole, meaning that you may still earn participation in a team match if you are knocked out early.

Surrendering
Surrendering will forfeit you your loser's rewards. Non participation will be considered an automatic surrender outside of special circumstances, typically determined as a week without posting and no notice to the opponent or staff that you will be unable to participate. Fraudulent participation (purposefully losing or not trying) will also be considered an effective surrender, due to it being unfair on your opponent. Remember, you don't have to partake in a PvP unless you want to!
Happy fighting!
