Player versus Player rules are fairly similar to the basic combat system of Dungeons & Darknuts. However, each game mode has slightly adjusted rules to keep it balanced and exciting.
Duels
Duels are the most straight forward PvP mode. Two players agree to Duel and create a topic (alternatively you can create a topic challenging a player and players reading your topic can choose to accept your challenge. The first player to accept is added to the duel).
After the players agree to duel, the topic they agreed to duel on becomes a dueling arena. A Staff member will then moderate the fight and run all numbers for it. The combat works turn-by-turn like standard combat, with player one alternating turns with player two. All skills and items can be used in duels, but follow standard usage rules!
Team Matches
Team Matches work similarly to Duels, except players participate in even-team matches that are composed of 2 players or more, such as 2v2, 3v3, 4v4, and beyond. Players do not necessarily get to pick their teams in formal team matches, rather players sign up and are sorted in with the team they balance the best. This is to prevent one team from being significantly stronger than the other. Players may request to be matched with a certain team, and if the team is balanced then their request will be fulfilled!
Anybody can initiate a team match, but please check available matches before starting your own to see if there's a spot for you!
Team Matches have somewhat different combat rounds, where every player on a team must call out an action once per round before the battle log can be calculated. (So, for your team's sake, be active if you decide to participate in a match!) If a player idles and does not make a turn within 24 hours, their turn is skipped for the round.
Players from both teams may post in whatever order they'd like, but the turns are calculated by alternating players from teams, that way one team doesn't flood the second team with attacks and risk knocking out a player before they have the opportunity to attack.
ALL skills, items, and tactics (blocking, team attacks, etc) can be used in Team Matches!
Free Matches
Free Matches are open-ended and have the loosest rules of all PvP matches. In fact, most of the rules are player-set! For example, someone can set up a match that has restricted item use, or can choose to run an unbalanced game, such as a 1v3. Finally, any team matches can be open-ended and not require staff balance. Staff still moderate matches and run numbers, however!

Rewards
Ranked PvP matches offer preset rewards for certain outcomes. Below is a list of rewards based on performance:
Victory: 3 Force Gems
Close Loss (close, good fight but still ultimately a loss): 2 Force Gems
Loss (unless the match was thrown; GM discretion): 1 Force Gem
*In addition, for each K-O on an enemy fighter that occurs, any player that assisted in the K-O earns 1 bonus Force Gem.

Betting
Players who bet on a match and win their bets have their betting Rupees multiplied by 40%, plus by an Odds Bonus if applicable. In addition, the winning team plus anyone who won their bet earns a share of the overall pot.
For example, if persons A, B, and C all place 100 Rupees each for Team A, while persons D, E, F all place 100 Rupees each for Team B, the total pot is 600 Rupees. If Team A wins the match, persons A, B, and C plus all members of Team A get a share of the 600-Rupee pot, and persons A, B, and C all earn an additional multiplied bonus of their original 100-Rupee bet.
Odds Bonuses:
*NOTE: Odds bonuses are only granted if the team with the lower winning odds wins the match. No bonuses are given if the team with higher odds wins, or if odds are equal. In addition, Odds Bonuses apply to the better's whole earnings after the pot is split, not just the rupees the player bet, which means that the PvPers also earn a odds boost if they win.
The bonus granted by odds boost equal the player's win number minus their loss number, pitted against the equivalent number of their enemy. Then, the lower number is taken :: higher number, -50%. (If it is team battle, the team average is taken instead). If the Win - Loss number would be negative, the number is instead treated as a 0. This sounds more complicated than it actually is, but here's a breakdown to make the numbers look less frightening:
Duel:
Player A: 6 W / 0 L = 6
Player B: 4 W / 1 L = 3
For this duel, the numbers would be 3 : 6, or 67%, which would be subtracted by 50%, leaving 17%. This means that, if Player B wins, everyone who bet on Player B would gain 1.17x their earnings.
Team Match:
Team A:
Player 1: 3 W / 2 L =1
Player 2: 6 W / 3 L = 3
Player 3: 1 W / 2 L = 0
Average: 1.3
Team B:
Player 4: 5 W / 1 L = 4
Player 5: 8 W / 7 L = 1
Player 6: 4 W / 0 L = 4
Average: 3
For this team match, the numbers would be 1.3 : 3, or 70%, which would be subtracted by 50%, leaving 20%. This means that, if Team A wins, everyone who bet on Team A would gain 1.2x their earnings.
