MAGICIAN
Masters of trickery and illusion, flashiness and charm, magicians are more likely to convince an enemy to fight for them than they are at taking a combat challenge head-on.
Base Class Information The Magician is a master-trickster, leaving behind most direct damage sources in favor of heavy Crowd Control effects. The Magician is much more likely to use brains over brawn (or in this case, tricks), fooling enemies into either attacking the wrong target or not attacking at all. Focusing so heavily on not directly attacking, Magicians benefit most from Competency. Defense is a good secondary stat to focus on, ensuring that the Magician is alive long enough to perform his/her tricks often and effectively.
Subclass Information
Mesmer: The Mesmer focuses on mentally warping his/her foes, often hypnotizing or mesmerizing - as the name implies - targets into inaction. The Mesmer is much more keen to lock down foes in an effort to reduce their effectiveness in combat, making them the most Defensive of the Magician's Specs. Illusionist: The Illusionist's primary function is the creation of a Mirror Image, allowing him/her to play off of his/her copy in order to fool enemies into traps. With the capacity to dish out some pain using his/her Image, coupled with very strong Crowd-Control support and direct ally aid, the Illusionist is the most Utility focused Spec. Coercer: The Coercer skips the middle-man, choosing to directly harm and cripple his/her foes, typically by way of breaking their psyche, or manipulating them into fighting on the Coercer's team. While still sporting the Magician's typical arsenal of Crowd Control, the Coercer can prove to be a deadly opponent, making it the most Offensive focused Spec.

Starting Skill:Simple Trick: A Magician performs a simple trick, attempting a Competency check versus the target with a +15% bonus chance of success to Distract an enemy for 2 rounds. However, instead of Distracting the target onto him/herself, the Magician's expertise in misdirection forces the Distracted target onto another one of his/her allies. If the spell succeeds, the enemy target will be forced to target an ally of choice until the Distraction effect ends. Of there is no ally, the enemy targets the Magician instead. 6 round cooldown. This skill will not go on cooldown if it fails.
